26.10.2007. Incident in Afghanistan

On the 26th of October 2007 at 04.10 hours local time (01.40 Croatian time), and in 05.10 hours local time (02.40 Croatian time), two explosions were heard in the vicinity of Warehouse multinational camp in Kabul. It is assumed that the attack was made with rockets. During the attack there were no injured. All members of Croatian contingent stationed in the Warehouse Camp are well and continue with their regular duties.


10.08.2007. Regular rotation of CAF Contingent in ISAF mission

The regular rotation of the CAF Contingent in the ISAF peace mission in Afghanistan was done on the 10th of August 2007. Members of the 9th CAF Contingent that have been in the ISAF peace mission from February 2007 have returned from the Afghanistan.
On this occasion, the official welcome has been organized in the Pleso Air Base, on which also attended Deputy Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Slavko Baric.
According to the regular six-month rotation, members of the 10th Contingent have left for the ISAF peace mission. After their departure to Afghanistan, total number of the Croatian Contingent in ISAF mission is 200 members, which is in compliance with the Parliament Decision from the 8th of December 2006.


03.08.2007. Croatian soldiers attacked in Afghanistan

On the 2nd of August 2007, at 22,53 hours local time (20,23 hours Croatian time), members of the Croatian Contingent in the ISAF mission were attacked in the area of Regional Command West, Dahane, Chahar Saden District. The attack was done by the RPG-7 rocket launcher on the police station where the members of the two Mobile Liaison Operational Teams (MLOT) (14 members in total) were staying for the night when performing the duty of patrolling in the area. Nobody was injured during the attack, and there was no material damage. All MLOT members continue with their duties according to their operational plans.


06.07.2007. OMLOT attacked in Afghanistan

On the 6th of July 2007 at 12.00 hrs local time (09.30 hrs Croatian time), members of the 9th Croatian contingent were attacked in Kunduz province on the north of Afghanistan. The attack was made on the members of Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team who were in the two LMV Iveco vehicles with the antitank mine which was hidden with bricks left near the road. Total 4 OMLT members were in vehicles. At the time of attack, OMLT was patrolling between Pol-e-Khomri and Kunduz, 6 km north from Pol-e-Khomri.
Thanks to strict obeying of protection measures and light multi-role armoured vehicles LMV Iveco that are currently the best in this category of motor vehicles, there were no injured or killed CAF members, and there were no material damage.


19.05.2007. Explosion of improvised explosive device in Afghanistan

On the 19th of May 2007, at 11.40 hours local time (9.10 hours Croatian time), an improvised explosive device exploded in the northern Afghanistan (Kundz Province). During regular patrol of Afghanistan National Army (ANA) and Croatian Operational Mentor and Liaison Team (OMLT) an explosion of improvised explosive device occurred near the road. Nobody from six Croatian OMLT or ANA was killed or injured, and there were no material damage as well.
Croatia currently has 177 members (9th Croatian Contingent) deployed in ISAF mission, out of whom 29 Croatian OMLT members that have been assigned to mentor and train ANA members.
